There are a lot of actors who had humble beginnings. Some had to take meager jobs to survive. But others were lucky enough to have been casted by some of the most famous fashion designers in the modeling industry.
Cara Delevigne, one of the top supermodels of her generation, is the latest catwalker to try her luck as a an actor. She stars in the upcoming film adaptation of John Green’s Paper Towns. Who else started out as a famous model who were lucky enough to get booked for labels like Versace, Guess and Calvin Klein, to name a few?
Liv Tyler
Her father is one of the living rock legends, Steven Tyler, and her mother, Bebe Buell, was a top model herself. But it was Paulina Porizkova, also a famous model, who made her a famous model thanks to personal photographs of a teenage Liv. After being featured in Interview magazine, Liv caught the attention of modeling companies. By 1993, she walked the runway for Versace and was made the face of Maybelline.
Ashton Kutcher
One of the top modeling agencies that also discovered Karlie Kloss and Myla Dalbesio launched Ashton’s career. It was in 1998 when he was given his big break when he joined an international modeling competition. Although he was only a runner-up, that contest helped him land a modeling stint with Calvin Klein.
Ian Somerhalder
Before he became famous for his role in famous TV shows like Lost and The Vampire Diaries, Ian was once a famous model in the mid-90s. He once posed for Versus and walked the runway for Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana.
Channing Tatum
Not only is Channing a multi-talented actor and dancer, but he was also a model, allowing him to put his god-like features and agility to good use. He modeled for Dolce & Gabbana, Abercrombie & Fitch and many others. But it was designer Neil Barrett who gave Channing his first runway gig.
Brooke Shields
Shields started modeling at a very young age – 11 months old. She then graced the cover of Vogue when she hit 14. Before that though, she landed her first acting stint at 12 for the controversial movie Pretty Baby. She also starred in Calvin Klein jeans ads as well as in films like The Blue Lagoon and Endless Love.
