Samsung Electronics and UNESCO announced their cooperation in order to offer students opportunities for developing world access to better education. For this purpose will use both the specificity of UNESCO in this field and solutions in the category of Samsung Smart Schools. This cooperation is to support the five key pillars of activity of UNESCO: Education, Culture, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities, Communication and Information. The Seok Pil Kim, Executive Vice President of Samsung, said that Samsung sees education as the key lever that allows nations to build sustainable and rich societies, in which people can triumph. The shared vision of Samsung and UNESCO education and culture ensures that this cooperation will be an important contribution to communities around the world and to inspire young people to take their future into their own hands.
The true Samsung’s commitment to offer to society, makes a range of initiatives such as the Smart Schools, which bridge the digital divide and contribute to create an improved learning environment and Technology Laboratories, which offer vocational education to students and young professionals. The company also implements educational initiatives, such as the Home Schools in Russia, for children with learning difficulties, the Smart Schools in hospitals in France, for children who are under prolonged hospitalization, and Digital Libraries in Southeast Asia.
The Mobile Learning initiative of UNESCO aims to provide education to all, using ingenious methods to support the educational process through mobile devices. The Samsung and UNESCO will join them initially in the field of education, a partnership that will expand in culture and science. The Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, noted that the cooperation between UNESCO and the Samsung is a shining example of an innovative alliance, necessary to consolidate the knowledge societies of the 21st century. He also added that through this we can integrate educational systems the amazing possibilities of mobile technologies, providing quality education to children and adults, wherever they are.
